Six years of digital foundation courses – and everything that happens along the way

Dear reader,

Six years ago, COVID-19 suddenly shut down workplaces and society. For us, this meant that teaching, which until then had taken place at workplaces, had to be approached in a completely new way almost overnight. It became the starting point for Digital Foundation Course in Strain Psychology.

Since then, several more courses have been added, but just as interesting is everything that has happened in workplaces. What happens when professionals gain a shared knowledge base and begin to apply it in their everyday work? When they develop their own approaches, become more aware of one another, and connect what they learn to their work on the psychosocial work environment? That is what this newsletter is about.

We tell the story of the journey from The Basic Book on Strain Psychology to the digital foundation courses and MentiMove, our new platform for learning, implementation, and prevention. You can also read about an unusually holistic initiative at Nykøbing Falster Hospital, which won the Danish Working Environment Award a few years ago, and visit the Oncology Department and Psychiatry at Gødstrup Regional Hospital, which have each found their own way of integrating strain psychology into everyday work.

And on September 24, we invite you to Demanding tasks. Strong communities – caring for the people who take on important tasks. It will be a professional event on the psychosocial work environment, where some of the workplaces we have learned from along the way will share what they have done, what has worked, and what they have learned from it. The event is for professionals working with the psychosocial work environment – such as leaders, work environment consultants, health and safety representatives, union representatives, and others responsible for wellbeing and the work environment.

Hurry and register your interest in the event by August 31 – click here.

Happy reading.

Best regards,
From all of us at the Institute for Strain Psychology

The consultant goes home. The colleagues stay.

It began with a professional curiosity, became The Textbook of Strain Psychology, followed by several more books and, in 2020, the first Digital Foundation Course. Today, our courses have moved to the new MentiMove platform. In this interview, we asked the Institute’s founder, Rikke Høgsted, what actually happened along the way.

When the whole hospital joined in

What happens when you don’t just send a few employees on a course, but give an entire workplace a shared professional foundation? At Nykøbing Falster Hospital, strain psychology, psychological first aid, and work environment initiatives were brought together in a major joint effort that was later recognized with the Danish Working Environment Award.

The digital foundation courses move into Gødstrup Regional Hospital

At Gødstrup Regional Hospital, employees and leaders in both the Oncology Department and Psychiatry have worked with the Institute’s digital foundation courses. The shared knowledge and prevention tools have since been translated into practical approaches in everyday work and in efforts to improve the psychosocial work environment.

Prevention Tool of the Month: MentiMove (try it for free)

A course can provide new knowledge. But the preventive effect only truly takes hold when that knowledge is put into practice and becomes part of everyday work. That is the idea behind MentiMove. It combines professional knowledge with practical tools and shared activities that help workplaces turn learning into action.

About caring for the people who take on important tasks.

On 24 September, we are hosting a professional event on the psychosocial work environment, where workplaces will share their experiences of what they have done and what has worked. The event is particularly aimed at managers, work environment consultants, health and safety representatives, union representatives, and others working with the psychosocial work environment.

Would you like – and are you able – to join us?
There are a limited number of places, so be sure to register your interest by August 31. Our aim is to bring together a diverse group of people who work with the psychosocial work environment.
