FAQ: FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What can the digital Foundation Course in Strain Psychology be used for? Is it even relevant for us? How is the course structured? And how can we get the most out of it?

We have answered some of the questions we most frequently receive from leaders, employees, and organisations. If you have additional questions about the course content, outcomes, or format, you are of course welcome to contact us directly or book a free demonstration.

The questions and answers are also compiled in a PDF below, which you can download and print as a support tool for your decision-making process.

The course provides a solid foundation of strain psychology knowledge, which is easily accessible and understandable, allowing all employees at the workplace to quickly acquire it.

It covers knowledge about which events and aspects of handling work can potentially be straining, what warning signs to watch for, and which psychological barriers need to be addressed to achieve effective strategic prevention.

The course offers a holistic and collective approach to prevention by highlighting concrete actions for the individual employee, their colleagues, leaders, and the organization.

It creates a shared language through models, metaphors, and concepts, and ensures pedagogical consistency by providing the same learning framework for everyone in the organisation.

The course can be used:

• For internal training or themed days for entire departments, leadership teams, TRIO groups, or the occupational health and safety organization, e.g., as supplementary occupational health education.

• As a shared starting point for specific initiatives regarding, for example, sick leave, collaboration, well-being, and job satisfaction.

• As part of the onboarding program for new employees and leaders.

The course is relevant for all employees who have psychologically demanding jobs, i.e.:

• Jobs where employees are confronted with accidents, threats, trauma, abuse, death, or other severe incidents.

• Jobs where employees must manage high emotional demands.

• Jobs where employees are at risk of being exposed to violence and threats.

The course consists of two parts: a foundation course with 8 modules for all employees, and an advanced section with 2 modules aimed at leaders and professionals working in management.

Each module includes a short video, ending with a reflection exercise, and participants are encouraged to take notes in the accompanying workbook. Afterwards, participants are encouraged to discuss their own experiences with the topic.

The course can be completed either online or in person. The playtime of each module varies by topic, typically between 6 and 8 minutes. The total pure playtime of the course is 85 minutes. The overall duration depends on how much time is allocated for reflection.

The course package includes:

• Access to the 8 video modules in the Digital Foundation Course in Strain Psychology.

• Access to the 2 video modules in the Advanced Foundation Course in Strain Psychology.

• Module overview (PDF), which can be printed and distributed to participants.

• Workbook (PDF), which should be printed and distributed to participants.

• Red-Green-Blue model (PDF), which can be printed and distributed to participants.

• Supplementary material (PDF) – The Fisherman’s Bench, IGLOU worksheets, and two well-being measurement tools (WHO-5 & ProQOL), which can be used during the course or for follow-up after completion.

How is the material delivered?

Course materials are delivered electronically via a link that provides the unit/department with access to the content. This access is exclusive to the specific unit/department and must not be shared with others.

The modular structure of the course makes it highly flexible and allows for different forms of competence development*:

Group Model: A model in which the group takes the course together and reflects collectively on the module content as they progress. The course can be facilitated by a coordinator – e.g., a manager, team lead, health and safety representative, or an internal occupational health consultant.

Duo Model: A one-on-one model, where the course is taken together with a colleague, or for managers, together with a peer manager. The duo model can also be used by interns and their supervisors, mentees and mentors, or new employees and their onboarding managers.

Self-Study Model: A model in which the participant – an individual employee or manager – completes the course independently, taking notes in the provided workbook for personal use.

*Please note: the course is sold exclusively to organizations and requires a minimum of ten licenses.

The do-it-yourself principle activates your organisation’s own resources and makes it easy to tailor the course to local conditions and needs.

When the course is facilitated by your own employees, it naturally strengthens ownership – which often makes implementation smoother and more sustainable.

In addition, you avoid the cost of hiring an external consultant.

The course is based on principles that comply with the requirements for prevention set out in the Executive Order on the Psychosocial Work Environment. These are principles that organisations are obliged to know and apply in their preventive efforts, and which the Danish Working Environment Authority uses when assessing the psychosocial work environment during inspections.
