“Sometimes we need to dare to step onto thin ice”

Nordjyllands Beredskab was recently featured in two articles in Kristeligt Dagblad, where director Diana Sørensen shared their experiences with the work. She describes how theme days and the institute’s Digital Basic Course in Psychological Safety have made a decisive difference for their workplace. She particularly emphasizes how the program has made it easier for employees to talk openly about mistakes.

“From time to time, we need to dare to step out onto thin ice. And sometimes, we will fall through. But that is exactly when we need to have the courage to talk to each other about what happened. When we can do that, it becomes safe. And I now feel that we have reached a point where there is genuinely more room to make mistakes and also to talk about them afterwards,” says Diana Sørensen to Kristeligt Dagblad, continuing:

"Psychological safety is absolutely necessary, I would say. We need to stay in the workforce for many years, and I, as a leader, want my employees to be with me for many years. Therefore, we need a safe base. When people are calm and secure, they can solve all kinds of challenges out there."
