“AND THEN THAT WAS IT?”

Pier Michel Thorsøe Larsen, HR and Work Environment Consultant, Municipality of Frederiksberg

What particularly stood out to you?

The importance of continuously checking in on the day-to-day atmosphere and wellbeing. Rather than what you often see – a large survey that almost becomes a project in itself, and then at some point it is over. And it does not really make much of a difference because “then that was it”. Ongoing follow-up works better. That was one of the things that particularly stood out to me.

What else is important in making it work?

It was a good point that senior management needs to share responsibility for the work environment if it is going to work in practice. We need a shared language for talking about what puts a strain on us. And it needs to be embedded not just in one part of the organisation, but through genuine organisational commitment. That is crucial.
