“IT GAVE ME SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT”

Steen Raakjær, Skolen ved Skoven, Municipality of Hillerød

Ann: What has particularly stood out to you in the first presentations?

Stone: The openness about the strains that come with the job. At Metro Service, they start talking about them as soon as new employees join. It gave me something to think about. I come from a special needs school where we face challenges involving both physical and psychological violence. Should we be more attentive to our new colleagues and prepare them better for the strains they may encounter?

Ann: Was there anything else you wanted to explore further?

Stone: Yes, the peer support network. We have work environment representatives from the different professional groups, as well as mentoring schemes. But perhaps we could broaden the support so that there are more colleagues people can turn to. I haven’t fully thought it through yet, but it was an interesting idea to take back with me.
