Institute for Strain Psychology

Authorised occupational health and safety adviser

The Institute for Strain Psychology has one mission: to take care of all those who take care of us.

The psychosocial work environment must be sustainable — even when working with high emotional demands. No one should become ill from going to work to help others. On this foundation, we established the Institute for Strain Psychology.

We believe it is possible to drive cultural development through a shared language, mutual understanding, and collective solutions for professionals in psychologically demanding roles — and their leaders. Not through quick fixes or loud proclamations, but through a persistent effort that starts correctly, is followed up systematically, and leads to the implementation of lasting solutions that can be felt in everyday work.

We convey knowledge and develop practical learning tools so that organisations can build a healthy and safe psychosocial work environment and a culture where safety and prevention are a natural part of the work. Our target audience includes both the professionals working in psychologically demanding roles and the leaders responsible for creating supportive frameworks.

We operate from a holistic understanding: the prevention of mental wear is a team effort. It only succeeds if everyone in the organisation understands their role, responsibilities, and capacity to act. The approach emphasises collective prevention and aligns with the principles of the Danish Executive Order on the Psychosocial Work Environment.

Making the psychosocial work environment concrete and sustainable

Many workplaces wish to strengthen their psychosocial work environment but are unsure where to begin, how to measure progress, or how to anchor the effort in a busy everyday context. Others may have tried individual initiatives, only to find that they did not become embedded in the organisational culture.
